The first sleeve is worked from cuff to shoulder, then stitches are cast on either side of the sleeve for the front and back, and the body is worked from hem to hem, working in two separate sections in the middle to create the neck opening. Finally, the front and back stitches are cast-off leaving the stitches for the second sleeve, which is worked from shoulder to cuff. After all knitting is complete, the sweater is joined at the side and the sleeve seams.
